Testimonials

Dear Peggy and Kim,

Thank you so much for the wonderful care you gave me and Joseph through our pregnancy and birth! I am more and more convinced that home birth is so right, and I feel so blessed to have met you two and have you be a part of the 2 most important things I've ever done in my life! I will continue to pray for you and your mission, and God-willing, I'll see you again soon!

God bless you,

Adele and Chris

Dear Peggy, Kim, and Parveen,

Thank you so much for all of your care and attention throughout our pregnancy and Roberta's birth/postpartum period. We came to trust your advice deeply and had a truly wonderful experience. Keep up the good work!! We want to advocate for midwifery and homebirth however we can, and plan to stay in touch with BBD.

Thanks again, and blessings to you all,

Liz

Dear Peggy and Kim,

I want to thank you both again. It means more to me that I can put into words. Having you there to help me with Elenah's birth. It was an amazing birth because you were there to help me do my best. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Forever Thankful, Erica

I just wanted to try to put into words how much you mean to me and our family. At the beginning of this journey, way back before we even became pregnant, I prayed so often for God to just give me a sign as to the who and where of our next birth. I had so much emotional healing that needed to take place before I thought I could even consider having another birth. For me, my c-section stripped me of my dignity, my confidence in my body, and yes in the beginning, left me wondering if I somehow was less of a mother. Thankfully, over time I was able to recognize that wasn't the case. I was left however with shattered confidence in my body and ability to birth the way I know God has designed each of us.

As my husband and I began to consider possibly planning another little one for sometime late this year I realized we must start to seek out the birth we have always dreamed of. Again, praying to God each step of the way that He guide us and give us wisdom. Being the master planner He is, I ended up by his orchestration learning about your monthly information class. We eagerly drove to your home Peggy, and I remember the second we walked in, it was obvious that indeed you had faith in our Creator. What a comfort it was to think that I might possibly not only have a midwife, but a fellow believer at that. Wouldn't that be a sweet gift from above? Then, when we met you and your team, including both Kim and Aimee, I just knew we had been led to the right place. We left, and I said to my husband, "Well, that is a weight off my shoulders. Whenever the time comes I know exactly who will be our midwife." Little did I know, my sweet little baby had already been created and was growing in my womb.

From the start, we were treated with nothing but respect and love. The careful and sweet way you care for your mommies helped restore that dignity I had lost and slowly I began to believe that my body indeed was created for this and that I absolutely could do it. As I began to "train" for this marathon of sorts, I became more committed to owning this birth. Steadily along the way you guys coached us and were always there to cheer us on. We could never say thank you enough for what you gave us, most importantly what you gave back to me that I feared was lost forever. Each of you is such a treasure, the sweetest gift to women everywhere, especially those fortunate to find their way to your doorstep. I hope and pray that you are able to continue doing what you do best. We need more women like you in this world!

When it came time for our birth, I marveled at how much I felt like we were the ones who were in charge despite us not really knowing what to expect. You carefully and quietly guided us. I can't imagine birth being any other way and I so desperately wish every woman could experience what we did. It was truly the most magical day of my life. We not only got the loveliest gift of all rewards, our baby, but were led down this slow and winding road by an incredible group of ladies who showed us where our strength lies. You will go on bringing babies into this world, delivering both them and their mommies, but I hope you know that what you gave to me, to my husband, to our children is something we could never repay. You transformed me and in turn I will transform our family and hopefully be able to transform others in the future. So, we simply thank you. You forever will be a part of our family and always have a special place in our hearts and home.

Kim, I feel so honored that you were at our birth. From the first meeting at Peggy's I felt instantly comfortable with you. You are so knowledgeable and supportive. I could not have made it through the last few hours of birth without your presence. Future clients are lucky to have you. Thank you for always being around on Facebook and via Peggy for any questions we had (pre and post-birth). Thank you for supporting me through my pregnancy and during labor. I feel so glad to have met you.

Claire

Kim, thank you for all the hard work and positive energy you brought to the pregnancy and birth of Hazel. You have such a great bedside manner and cheerful personality. Your smile is contagious and it made the whole experience that much more great! Thank you for being one of my Shiprahs!

Mary

Words in a thank you note just aren't enough to express how I truly feel about the whole experience of Claire's birth or how grateful I am to you. I have so much thankfulness in my heart. What an experience! I am so happy with our experience at home and that everything went so well. We thank you so much for your friendship and support.

Julie

Sadie

I think about you often and am so happy with my birth experience. It has been the catalyst for some major changes in my life - I am a better person for the experience.

Carrie

Your care enabled me entirely to get that perfect baby out. I think you know that full well already, and I'm just a drop in the bucket of compliments you must receive all the time, nevertheless we can never repay what you've done for our family.

Cathy

Just wanted to say that Peggy is AWESOME! We had a waterbirth with her 19 months ago and plan to do the same w/ #2 whenever that happens. Fantastic experience.

Dear Peggy, Kim, Izzy, & Everyone at BBD,

As I progress through my fourth pregnancy with you, and embrace all that maternity has offered me, I find myself overwhelmed with appreciation of you. I just can't believe how blessed I am to have truly wonderful ladies like you as health professionals, "therapists", comrades, and friends.

I hear others' horror stories (or just hospital stories that they cannot perceive as horrible care yet it is) I remember that I used to be in their vulnerable shoes-I used to perceive as they do- I have horror stories of my own.

But I have been emancipated from that other life, and placed under your care for reprogramming. I have faith in myself and my ability to birth, but when I lack in faith or need assistance, I do not have to fear knowing that you all are here for me.

So I speak for myself as well as on behalf of those who do not take the time to tell you-I am so overwhelmingly thankful for you. Your efforts make a huge difference that money could never buy.

Love,

Angela

My birth was absolutely beautiful and God-glorifying, just as I had prayed. God is so faithful. He answered every prayer and every detail. It was really an awesome experience.

Peggy,

I am so thankful to have you in my life! The Lord has truly blessed me (an my family) with the gift of you as our midwife. The kindness, concern and love you show is so like Him. Sharing in our joy with your beautiful smile at the birth of now 2 of our little ones is something I will always treasure.

I don't know if you're aware of just how much your encouragement and sharing from your own journey as a "homeschooling mama of many: has helped me. With so few Godly ladies out there that have "gone before" its nice to have one in my life who survived:) (Your daughters are blessed to have you).

Thanks for being my "lifeguard" again and remaining calm and reassuring in the face of a somewhat scary "moment" in Gabe's birth and for being a strong shoulder to lean on during my hardest work.

You have a gift, Peggy, for being "with women", and I'm so thankful you're willing to share it.

With Love,

Carrie

Every woman deserves to experience the kindness, the deference, the respect, and the joy Peggy brings to a birth. My only regret is that I waited until my seventh child to have a home birth, but I am comforted by the idea that Birth by Design was only available to us once we settled in Virginia, and it was worth the wait.

Because my husband is a Marine, I gave birth to my first six children in five different hospitals, and while I believed in the power of natural birth, I also accepted as unavoidable the invasions of intimacy and modesty, the routine interventions and interruptions, which are necessary in a hospital setting. Embracing home birth was a slow process, especially since our insurance covered a wonderful OB group, but not a home birth. Now I know that bringing a new life into your own home is priceless, and will never stop advocating that women reach for the experience with arms wide open.

The women of Birth by Design are exceptional in their wisdom and enthusiasm for the sacredness of birth as God intended. Our family trusts in their guidance implicitly, and we never tire of sharing our story with anyone who will listen. If only all babies were born into this environment of supportive love. I cannot wait to share another birth with these women and my family. My only worry is that the birth will pass too quickly to enjoy it properly!

Thanks to Peggy and her wonderful staff, I now believe, with all my heart and soul, that heaven feels like giving birth. May God bless and keep them, and may they continue to allow women to birth in comfort and peace.

My husband and I hoped for a natural childbirth for our first baby because it seems to be healthier and more aligned with God's design for our bodies. The care we received through Birth by Design gave our family much more than natural childbirth. During the intense and scary parts of labor and birth, the midwives gave us amazing physical and emotional support, and gave my husband the freedom to focus exclusively on supporting me as well. Our daughter's birth was healthy, natural and more: it felt like a victory of love. I cannot express the depth of our gratitude to Birth by Design!
